FAQs
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening and toning the body, improving flexibility, and enhancing posture.
Do I have to be fit and flexible to do Pilates?
No, Pilates is for every body. The beauty of the reformer is that is fully adjustable for every level.
Do I have to be young to do Pilates?
No, Our studio is for anyone 16 years and older. The Golden Bear Classes are for the bears with more life experience.
What should I wear to Pilates?
Always wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. It is best to wear formf= fitting clothes so your instructor can see your movement. Grippy socks are recommended. If you don't have any, don't worry we have some for sale in the studio. Along with bottled water and electrolyte packets.
How often should I "bear" it all on the reformer? 🐾
The honest truth? As often as makes you feel awesome! But if you’re looking for a roadmap to those "oh-wow-I-have-abs" moments, here’s the breakdown:
The "Slow & Steady" (1x a week)
Perfect if you’re a busy bee or just looking to supplement your other workouts (looking at you, runners and HIIT lovers!). You’ll feel a great stretch and a nice core wake-up call, but progress might be a bit of a slow burn.
The "Sweet Spot" (2–3x a week) 🌟
This is where the magic happens. At a few times a week, your brain and body start speaking the same language. You’ll start standing taller, moving smoother, and realizing you’re reaching for things on the high shelf with way more ease.
The "Pilates Pro" (4+ sessions a week)
For the overachievers! Since Pilates is low-impact and kind to your joints, you can totally hang with us almost every day. Just remember to listen to your body—rest days are just as important for those muscles to knit back together stronger.
The Bottom Line
Whether you’re here once a week or every single morning, consistency is your best friend. We’d rather see you once a week, every week, than five days in a row followed by a month-long nap!
New to the den? Start with two sessions a week. It’s the perfect amount to get the hang of the moves without feeling like a sore (but happy) bear the next morning.
The "Joseph Pilates" Philosophy
The founder of the method famously said:
"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a whole new body."
